Doctors

DR STEPHEN LOCKE

The senior partner at Trowbridge Health Centre, Dr Locke qualified at St George’s Hospital Medical School, London in 1990, and trained as a GP in Bath. Dr Locke is a Clinical Director of the Trowbridge Primary Care Network, which is working at developing new services for the patients in Trowbridge. Dr Locke usually works at the practice Monday Tuesday Wednesday and Friday.

DR HARRY BIMBH

Dr Bimbh qualified in 1989 at the medical school of St Bartholomew’s hospital. He completed his General practice training at St Georges Hospital in Tooting before heading to the West country. He has developed further skills especially in cardiology where he heads up the Trowbridge Health Centre Cardiology service.

DR CHARLIE BUNDY

Dr Bundy gained much of his experience working in Australia and New Zealand. On returning to the UK he completed his training to become a GP and has worked at Adcroft ever since. Dr Bundy has expertise in minor surgery and joint injections, as well as being actively involved in clinical research, and usually works at the practice Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday.

DR TOBY COOKSON

Dr Cookson qualified at Charring Cross and Westminster Hospital Medical School in 1988. He became a GP Partner in Trowbridge in 1998. He has interest in general medicine and neurology. Dr Cookson usually works at the practice Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

DR CAROL SHEPPARD

Dr Sheppard graduated from Southampton in 1990 & is married with 2 children. Her special interests are Diabetes, Womens health and ENT, she usually works at the practice on Monday Thursday & Friday.

DR DICKON PONTY

Dr Ponty and has previous experience in elderly care medicine and Gastro-enterology, he works at the practice Monday, Tuesday & Friday.

DR TIM ARGYLE

Salaried GP, normally works at the practice Monday-Wednesday.

DR LUCY AUSTRENG

Dr Austreng graduated from St George’s Hospital Medical School in 2017, before moving to Cheltenham to work initially as a Foundation Doctor and later in specialist roles within Paediatrics and Emergency Medicine. She moved to Bath in 2021 to start GP training, and has been a registrar at Trowbridge Health Centre since August 2023. Dr Austreng usually works at the practice on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Salaried GP: Dr Fryer studied medicine in Newcastle upon Tyne and moved to the South West following time working as a doctor in Borneo and New Zealand. She trained as a GP in Bath and now works as a retained GP at the practice alongside working in Army Officer recruitment. Dr Fryer usually works at the practice on Wednesday & Thursday.

DR ALICE GARDNER

Salaried GP: Dr Gardner studied medicine at Oxford University, graduating in 2006. After junior doctor years in Bristol, she joined the Bath GP Training scheme and was a GP trainee at Adcroft Surgery. Dr Gardner enjoys the variety of general practice and seeing patients of all ages, and has special interests in women's health and medical education. Dr Gardner is a GP Trainer and one of the Bath GP Training Programme Directors. She provides coil and contraceptive implant clinics. Dr Gardner usually works at the practice on Mondays and Tuesdays .

DR KATE JACKSON

Salaried GP: Dr Jackson trained and worked as a GP in Sheffield, before moving to London. She worked as the Local Medical Director at her surgery for 10 years. She was responsible for shaping clinical service provision, maintaining and monitoring clinical standards, clinical governance and training. Dr Jackson normally works at the practice Monday & Wednesday.

Dr Stevenson graduated from Imperial College London in 2012, with a previous degree in Biological Sciences from Warwick University. She trained as a GP in Manchester and moved to this area to settle here with her husband and children. Having grown up in the Lake District, when not at work, she likes to spend time outdoors with her family and loves a good hike. Dr Stevenson works at the practice on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays

DR HOWARD TANSLEY

Salaried GP: Dr Tansley spent time in New Zealand working in A&E and as the doctor for a ski area. He has had experience in paediatric surgery, trained as a GP locally and has an interest in practical procedures and minor operations. Outside work he enjoys spending time with his young family. Dr Tansley usually works at the practice Tuesday-Friday.

DR SARAH TAYLOR

Dr Sarah Taylor studied medicine at Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry and completed her GP training in Bath in 2019. She has a special interest in Sexual Health and Women's Health.

DR ROBBIE TUFFLEY

I trained at the University of Birmingham graduating in 2015. I then spent time working in Redditch, Birmingham, and on the Central Coast in Australia. I returned to the UK in 2018 to complete my GP training in Bath. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my wife, my labrador and exercising. I am also an avid supporter of Crystal Palace FC & Bath Rugby. I work Monday-Thursday and enjoy performing joint injections

Salaried GP, Dr Yates qualified in Southampton in 1997. She initially worked in Dorset and then Sussex, but completed her GP Training year in Bath in 2002. She has a special interest in psychiatry and does some work at the substance misuse service. Dr Yates normally works at the practice on Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday.

Nurses

Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. They can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and dressings. The practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes, minor ailment clinics and carry out cervical smears.

Healthcare Assistants

Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement and new patient checks. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.

The practice management team is involved in managing all of the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. The team supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care.

Reception

Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses.

Pharmacists

Our Clinical Pharmacists deal with medication queries from patients and the practice team. They also carry out medication reviews and are keen to help patients get the most out of their medicines so that they understand why they take them and know how to take them efficiently. They are also involved in prescription protocols and generally supporting the practice in medication-related issues. Please contact reception if you wish to speak to a Clinical Pharmacist.

Clinical Care Co-ordinators

Our Clinical Care Coordinators are qualified Healthcare Professionals who support our doctors with patients who need care and support as well as those patients that are over 75 and at particular risk of admission to hospital. They will visit patients at home to assess the patients’ needs and agree treatment plans and care packages with both the patient and other agencies, to enable the patient to be cared for at home where possible. Clinical care coordinators work closely with our elderly care team to support our elderly and our more vulnerable patients.

Administration

Trowbridge Health Centre has an extensive Administration Team which includes Medical Secretaries, Patient Services, Estates, HR, Prescription Clerks, Rota Planning and Non-Clinical Care Co-ordinators. The Administration Team are vital to ensuring the smooth running of the surgery and its services.

Community Midwives

The local Midwives will co-ordinate your care during your pregnancy, right from the moment you discover you are expecting. Please contact Trowbridge Birth Centre within one month of discovering you are pregnant. They can be contacted on 01225 711314, Monday to Thursday between 09:00 and 12:00. If you need to contact your Midwife, please telephone 01225 765840. You do not need to see a GP to confirm you are pregnant unless you have concerns you wish to discuss.

Health Visitors

Health Visitors are qualified nurses, with special training and experience in child health, health promotion and education. They offer practical support and health advice in many situations, including child development, nutrition, sleep issues and behaviour management in the under 5’s. Normally the Health Visitors will see your child at the following intervals: Following birth, at home, between 10-14 days with follow up support if needed • At 9-11 months • At 2 years They are a great source of information and can be contacted on 0300 247 0090
