Home Blood Pressure Readings
Home Blood Pressure Readings
Help us to manage your blood pressure
In recent years the guidance is for patients to take control of their own blood pressure monitoring by taking home readings. This allows us to get a better assessment of what a patients BP is while they are doing their normal activities at home. It also allows for more readings to be taken then historic clinic readings and so a better estimate of your average blood pressure. In the current climate it also avoids unnecessary trips to the surgery with the infection risks that that poses.
We would ask all our patients with hypertension to buy a home BP monitor. They are relatively inexpensive and allow the patient to track their BP at home. For a list of validated home blood pressure monitors, visit https://bihsoc.org/bp-monitors/ or discuss with your pharmacy
